Evaluation of Colour Models for Computer Vision Using Cluster Validation Techniques
نویسندگان
چکیده
Computer vision systems frequently employ colour segmentation as a step of feature extraction. This is particularly crucial in an environment where important features are colour-coded, such as robot soccer. This paper describes a method for determining an appropriate colour model by measuring the compactness and separation of clusters produced by the k-means algorithm. RGB, HSV, YCbCr and CIE L*a*b* colour models are assessed for a selection of artificial and real images, utilising an implementation of the Dunn’s-based cluster validation index. The effectiveness of the method is assessed by qualitatively comparing the relative correctness of the segmentation to the results of the cluster validation. Results demonstrate a significant variation in segmentation quality among colour spaces, and that YCbCr is the best choice for the DARwIn-OP platform tested.

Abstract A dataset of (E)-N’-benzylideneisonicotinohydrazide derivatives as a potent anti-mycobacterium tuberculosis has been investigated utilizing Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship (QSAR) techniques. Genetic Function Algorithm (GFA) and Multiple Linear Regression Analysis (MLRA) were used to select the descriptors and to generate the correlation QSAR models that relate the Mi...
متن کاملImage Segmentation for Food Quality Evaluation Using Computer Vision System
Quality evaluation is an important factor in food processing industries using the computer vision system where human inspection systems provide high variability. In many countries food processing industries aims at producing defect free food materials to the consumers. Human evaluation techniques suffer from high labour costs, inconsistency and variability. Thus this paper provides various step...
متن کاملModeling and Evaluation of Stochastic Discrete-Event Systems with RayLang Formalism
In recent years, formal methods have been used as an important tool for performance evaluation and verification of a wide range of systems. In the view points of engineers and practitioners, however, there are still some major difficulties in using formal methods. In this paper, we introduce a new formal modeling language to fill the gaps between object-oriented programming languages (OOPLs) us...
